After flirtin' with the NFL, Diedrick joined the CFL, where he made a name for himself as a successful running back. He returned to the Alouettes for his final season in 2014, but was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer during the season. Despite his illness, the Alouettes paid tribute to him, sayin' they were "saddened to learn of the passing" of their former teammate.
