Arr, me hearties! Listen ye well to this tale I be tellin' ye. ChatGPT, a chattin' parrot o' sorts, did take it upon 'imself to solemnize a weddin' in the wilds o' Colorado. A brave Army scallywag an' 'is fair lass pulled off this grand scheme in a mere five days, and now they be spoke for life!

The language of a 17th-century pirate is not often associated with modern technology, but in a humorous twist, ChatGPT has become a wedding officiant. A Colorado couple, Reece Wiench and Deyton Truitt, decided to embrace both the past and the future by getting married in the Historic Morrison Church while employing the services of ChatGPT. With Truitt about to deploy for the Army and Wiench planning to join him after basic training, the couple had just five days to plan their wedding.

Colorado does not require a licensed marriage official, so the bride's dad, Stephen Wiench, came up with the idea of using ChatGPT as an "easier and cheaper" officiant. However, the chatbot initially hesitated to conduct the ceremony, claiming it couldn't officiate because it lacked eyes and a body. Undeterred, the couple fed personal information to the chatbot, which they wanted to incorporate into its remarks during the ceremony. They even sent a message to their 30 guests explaining that AI would be officiating the wedding.

During the ceremony, a robot mask was placed over a speaker to give the illusion that someone was speaking. The chatbot eloquently expressed the significance of the moment and the possibilities that arise when love and technology intersected. It also thanked the guests, especially those who traveled from out of state, notably Kansas.

While the couple crafted their own vows and did not rely on the AI system for that, they and their guests were pleased with the AI-assisted wedding. Wiench remarked that ChatGPT took something personal to humans, like a wedding, and enhanced it. The use of technology in such a traditional setting added a unique and memorable element to the celebration.
