2023-07-07

Arrr, mateys! In the eighth inning, whilst the Baltimore Orioles be dominatin' the New York Yankees by a score of 14-0, Cap'n Brandon Hyde, the skipper o' the Orioles, was tossed out o' the game! 'Tis his third expulsion this season, me hearties!

Thursday's game between the Baltimore Orioles and the New York Yankees was a blowout, with the Orioles dominating and winning 14-1. The Orioles scored 12 runs in the first four innings, leaving the Yankees in the dust. However, Baltimore manager Brandon Hyde didn't stick around for the full nine innings as he got ejected in the eighth inning after arguing with the plate umpire, Dan Iassogna.
The ejection came after Iassogna issued warnings to both benches when Yankees pitcher Wandy Peralta hit Orioles center fielder Colton Cowser and loaded the bases. Hyde found it strange that Peralta wasn't ejected and wanted to ask about it, but instead, he himself was thrown out.
This was the 12th ejection of Hyde's career and his third of the 2023 season. Meanwhile, Baltimore continued to dominate the game, scoring a whopping 12 runs in the third and fourth innings alone. Infielder Gunnar Henderson had an outstanding performance with two home runs and five RBIs in just the first four innings.
On the Yankees' side, starting pitcher Luis Severino had a rough outing, getting chased out of the game after just 2.2 innings and allowing seven runs on 10 hits. Severino's ERA for the 2023 season now stands at 7.38 in 42.2 innings pitched. Yankees manager Aaron Boone acknowledged that it was a bad night for the team and expressed the need to work on getting Severino back on track.
Overall, it was a lopsided victory for the Orioles, with their dominant performance and Hyde's ejection adding some dramatic moments to the game.
