LSU head coach Brian Kelly humorously claimed that his Louisiana accent has improved as he enters his second season coaching in the SEC. He gained attention in December 2021 after debuting his accent in front of LSU basketball fans. Jokingly, Kelly stated that his accent has only gotten better with time. He mentioned that his accent changes depending on whether he is in Northern or Southern Louisiana. Kelly, originally from Massachusetts, denied faking a Southern accent and explained that his Boston accent already makes him sound different in the Midwest and the South. Regardless of the accent he uses, the Tigers are in a much better position than they were a year ago. In his first year at LSU, Kelly achieved a 10-4 record, including a victory against Alabama at home and a spot in the SEC Championship game.
