Arrr! The scurvy dog who scribbled about Georgia's treatment o' the lads o' football, connectin' 'em to scandalous tales o' sexual abuse, be walkin' the plank from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, he be!

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution (AJC) has issued corrections to a story it published, investigating current and former members of the Georgia football team. The author of the article, Alan Judd, has been terminated for violating the organization's journalistic standards. The AJC declined Georgia's demand to retract the article but did make corrections to it. Judd's original article claimed that 11 players remained on the team after reported violent encounters with women and/or the school. However, the AJC stated that the precise count of 11 players could not be substantiated. As a result, several paragraphs were deleted and the headline of the story was changed. The headline now reads "UGA football program rallied in two incidents when players were accused of abusing women." The AJC found two confirmed cases that Judd wrote about to be accurate and newsworthy. In Georgia's official demand for a retraction, they accused Judd of arranging quotes from a police interview to fit his false narrative. The AJC's investigation sided with the university in this matter. Another error identified in the article was the improper joining of two separate statements from a detective into a single quotation. The AJC apologized for the errors and assured their commitment to editorial integrity and accountability. The university accused the article of containing errors, unsubstantiated allegations, innuendo, and possibly fabrications. However, the AJC stated that they found no instances of fabrication in the story. Alan Judd expressed pride in his work for the AJC over the past 24 years. Georgia's football team recently won its second consecutive national championship.
