Arrrr, the captain o' the pedal pushin' crew with the leader o' the Tour de France be grumblin' 'bout another scurvy team, claimin' they be guzzlin' grog instead o' racin' with the proper seriousness. Aye, a fine bunch o' landlubbers they be!
The manager for the Dutch cycling team Jumbo-Visma, Richard Plugge, has accused members of the French squad Groupama-FDJ of drinking "large beers" during the second rest day of the Tour de France. Plugge, whose rider Jonas Vingegaard is leading the event, criticized the French cyclists for not taking the race seriously. He believes that alcohol is detrimental to performance and makes tiredness worse. Groupama-FDJ manager Marc Madiot reacted angrily to Plugge's comments, calling them a "vile attack" and stating that he doesn't care about Plugge or his opinions. Madiot vehemently denied the accusations, claiming that his riders were drinking Perrier water, not beer. He also defended his team's dedication and performance in the race, pointing out their strong results in the time trial and breakaway stages. Madiot expressed his frustration with people saying whatever they want and called Plugge's comments "shabby." He made it clear that he had no intention of lowering himself to meet with Plugge. Meanwhile, Vingegaard is aiming for his second consecutive Tour de France victory.
