Arr! Avast ye scurvy dogs! Tis a tale of misfortune, as the Phillies' own Trea Turner, a swashbucklin' shortstop, committed a ghastly error! But that weren't all, for he got himself into a mighty quarrel with them umpires, and got himself banished from the game, all in a single inning! Blimey!

In a disastrous fifth inning for Philadelphia Phillies shortstop Trea Turner on Monday night against the Baltimore Orioles, his performance eventually led to his ejection. The game was already going poorly for Turner, as he had an error and was 0-for-2 entering the fifth inning. The tough critics in the seats at Citizens Bank Park didn't make things any easier for him. Turner's second error of the game occurred when he mishandled a routine ground ball up the middle and slipped on the dirt. The crowd responded with boos. Turner's night got worse when he came to the plate in the bottom of the fifth with the game tied. He was called out on strikes by home plate umpire Will Little on a pitch that appeared to be just below the strike zone. This led to an argument with the umpire, during which Turner was ejected from the game. Manager Rob Thomson also came out of the dugout to join the discussion. This season hasn't been as successful for Turner compared to previous years. He is currently slashing .249/.302/.390 with 20 doubles, four triples, and 10 home runs. However, in the last two seasons with the Los Angeles Dodgers and Washington Nationals, Turner had All-Star campaigns and impressive batting averages. Due to his previous success, he signed a massive $300 million contract with the Phillies. Fans are hoping for a return to his previous form in the second half of the season. This game was certainly not what Turner wanted to showcase in front of his home crowd. He will have the opportunity to bounce back in the next game against the Orioles.
