Ahoy, ye scallywags! Be ye green with envy o'er them Windows 11 gamers mendin' their timeout crashes? Fear not, me hearties! 'Tis now arriv'd for Windows 10, savin' ye from such troubles. Yarrr!

Windows 10 gamers have a reason to celebrate with the latest preview update for the OS. This update comes with a fix for a nasty gaming-related crash known as Timeout Detection and Recovery (TDR) errors. These errors can cause a crash or even lock up the system in extreme cases.
The fix for this issue was initially applied to Windows 11 in the Moment 3 update. However, Windows 10 users can now rejoice as the fix is included in the KB5028244 (build 19045.3271 for Windows 10 22H2) preview patch. The full fix will be available in August's cumulative update for Windows 10.
Aside from the gaming-related crash fix, the update also addresses other issues. These include a bug preventing successful connections for some VPN apps, missing display or audio devices after waking from sleep, and a problem with the Start menu when a full-screen search can't be closed.
PC gamers on Windows 10, who are still the majority, were frustrated when Windows 11 received a solution for the TDR crashes in June without any mention of Windows 10. Some even considered upgrading to Windows 11 because of this issue. However, the fix is now available for Windows 10, although it is still in the testing phase as an optional update.
Regardless, the full fix will be included in the cumulative update for Windows 10 next month. It is worth noting that Windows 11 seems to have priority in Microsoft's development, leaving Windows 10 users feeling neglected. However, for those affected by TDR crashes, the risk of potential side effects from the patch may seem like a small price to pay for a solution.
