Avast, ye scurvy dogs! The Arizona Diamondbacks be putting an end to their misfortunes, breakin' their cursed five-game losin' streak against them blasphemous St. Louis Cardinals. 'Twas a fierce battle, but in the eighth inning, Corbin Carroll, the swashbucklin' hero, delivered a triple to seal their victory!

In a thrilling game, pinch-hitter Corbin Carroll played the hero for the Arizona Diamondbacks, delivering a two-run triple in the eighth inning to lead his team to a 3-1 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals. This win ended the Diamondbacks' five-game losing streak and marked just their third win in 11 games since the All-Star break.
The game had been tight, with St. Louis taking a 1-0 lead. However, Arizona rallied in the eighth inning against reliever JoJo Romero. Ketel Marte hit a triple and scored on Jake McCarthy's single, tying the game. Then, Carroll came in as a pinch-hitter for Emmanuel Rivera and crushed a ball to the center-field wall, securing the go-ahead runs for the Diamondbacks.
Carroll expressed the importance of the win, stating, "We got a lot of guys that are grinding right now. Just to put one in the win column takes some pressure off."
On the pitching side, Merrill Kelly returned from injury to throw six solid innings, giving up only one run. He kept the game close for the Diamondbacks until Carroll's heroics. Kyle Nelson and Kevin Ginkel finished the game on the mound, with Ginkel earning his third save.
Overall, Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo praised Carroll's performance, saying, "It's probably one of the few pinch-hit opportunities he's had, gets a ball he's looking for and drives it off the center-field wall. Dom's at-bat that handed it off to Corbin ... a very well-timed win."
With the win, the Diamondbacks hope to gain momentum and turn their season around. They have Jack Flaherty starting against Zac Gallen in the series finale against the Cardinals.
