Arrr, me hearties! The Texas Rangers and Houston Astros found themselves in a mighty ruckus on Wednesday eve, as Adolis Garcia sent a grand slam a-whirlin' near 450 feet! The benches be cleared, and mayhem ensued, as if we were back in the days o' swashbuckling pirates!
In a game between the Texas Rangers and the Houston Astros, Texas slugger Adolis Garcia made a grand slam in the fifth inning, increasing the score to 13-3. However, things took an interesting turn after that. Garcia hit the ball a staggering 448 feet to left center field in Houston. As he made his way across home plate, Astros catcher Martin Maldonado had some choice words for him and Marcus Semien when they crossed the plate. This led to a heated exchange and ultimately resulted in both Maldonado and Semien being ejected from the game. Despite the altercation, Texas went on to win the game with a final score of 13-5.After the game, Semien commented on the incident, claiming that he was just conversing with Maldonado and didn't intend to get thrown out of the game. Maldonado, on the other hand, stated that he was ejected for starting the benches-clearing situation. He believed that such exchanges happen during games when two competitive teams are vying for victory.
Earlier in the game, both benches had been warned after Astros pitcher Framber Valdez hit Semien with a pitch. This was seen as retaliation for a pitch that Andrew Heaney threw at Yordan Alvarez in the first inning. Semien believed that Valdez's pitch was intentional, and after he scored on the grand slam, he confidently told Maldonado that they were going to win. This seemed to spur the team on, as they went on to score 11 runs. Unfortunately, Semien's ejection meant that he couldn't witness the victory firsthand.
With this win, Texas improved their record to 60-43, while Houston's record fell to 58-45.
