Avast ye scurvy dogs! A band o' lasses and their kin be suin' Michigan State University, claimin' it be hidin' 6,000 parchments durin' an inquiry into Larry Nassar's wicked acts o' plunderin' the virtue o' these fair maidens!
A group of women who were sexually assaulted by Larry Nassar, the former sports doctor at Michigan State University, have filed a lawsuit against the university, accusing school officials of withholding documents related to Nassar's case. The survivors claim that the university refused to provide over 6,000 documents to the state attorney general's office during an investigation into Nassar's sexual assault allegations. They also allege that the school did not hand over emails that revealed the board of trustee's decision-making regarding Nassar.Michigan State University argues that the documents were not given due to attorney-client privilege. However, the survivors' group asserts that the lawsuit is not about money but rather seeking accountability for the university's actions. Nassar, who was sentenced in 2018 to serve 40 to 175 years in prison for sexually assaulting at least 265 young women and girls, including top gymnasts, was recently stabbed multiple times in prison after making a lewd comment while watching a Wimbledon tennis match.
The president of the local union at the prison reported that Nassar suffered stab wounds to his neck, back, and chest, resulting in a collapsed lung, although he was in stable condition. Michigan State University has faced criticism for its handling of Nassar's case and its treatment of the survivors. The university was ordered to pay $4.5 million in fines by the Department of Education and settled for $500 million with the victims. The lawsuit filed by the survivors aims to hold the university accountable for its actions.
