Arr, me hearties! Avast ye! Jackie Fulkrod be walkin' the plank, resignin' from her high post as president of the Cheyenne Tennis Association board! She be raisin' a ruckus, in a fit o' protest, 'bout a transgender soul takin' part in the Wyoming Governor’s Cup. Blimey!

The president of the Cheyenne Tennis Association Board in Wyoming has resigned in protest of the organization's decision to allow a transgender college athlete, Brooklyn Ross, to participate in the 2023 Wyoming Governor’s Cup. Jackie Fulkrod stepped down from her position, stating that she believed it was unfair for a man to compete against women in an event specifically meant for women. Fulkrod expressed concerns about the lack of protection for female athletes in the tournament due to the inclusion of a transgender athlete. Ross, a Colorado native, plays tennis on the women's team at the University of Texas at Tyler and was previously named PacWest Freshman of the Year. Ross, who transitioned six years ago, expressed sadness over Fulkrod's resignation and stated that she saw no reason for it. The United States Tennis Association's policy on transgender athletes allows them to compete in the women's category if they have declared their gender identity as female and have undergone hormonal therapy. The policy aims to ensure inclusive and fair competition for all. As of Friday, the entry list for the Women's Open singles draw showed that Ross had withdrawn from the event. The executive director of the USTA's Wyoming chapter did not respond to requests for clarification on Ross' withdrawal.
