Arrr! Angels' Shohei Ohtani be leavin' the mound with cramps, but still be smacking a scurvy 40th home run!

2023-08-04

Arr, mateys! Shohei Ohtani, that two-way star from Los Angels Angels, did strike his grand 40th home run this fine Thursday. Aye, but alas! He were forced to leave the pitcher's spot in the fourth inning due to the dreaded cramps!

Shiver me timbers! Shohei Ohtani, the mighty two-way star for the Los Angeles Angels, had to walk the plank early in a game against the Seattle Mariners, but not before launching his 40th home run, arrr! Ohtani, who started as the pitcher, had to leave after four scoreless innings due to cramping in his hand and fingers. But fear not, me hearties, for he stayed in the lineup as the designated hitter and smacked a solo home run in the eighth inning, giving the Angels a 3-1 lead. According to the Angels manager, Phil Nevin, Ohtani's right middle finger was cramping and he couldn't straighten it out, preventing him from continuing to pitch. But worry not, me mateys, for it's just a finger and they'll get it checked. Ohtani himself admitted that he's been experiencing cramps all over, but he didn't want to risk giving up any runs, so he thought it was best to stop pitching. Unfortunately, despite Ohtani's heroic efforts, the Angels ended up blowing a two-run lead in the ninth inning, as the Mariners' rookie, Cade Marlowe, hit his first career grand slam, leading Seattle to a 5-3 victory. Arrr, what a disappointment! After the trade deadline, where the Angels bolstered their starting staff, they have now lost three games in a row and find themselves four games behind in the race for the final Wild Card spot in the American League. But Ohtani, ever the optimist, says they just have to turn the page and move on. So, me hearties, it seems that even the mightiest pirates can be plagued by cramps, but let's hope Ohtani can recover quickly and continue his swashbuckling performances on the field!
