2023-08-15

Arr, matey! Methinks this fancy Canary ChromeOS might be bringin' some newfangled Google Tasks widgets to improve yer task management! Avast ye, there be no better way to keep yer duties shipshape and organized.

In the language of a 17th century pirate, arrr, let me tell ye about the charm of the best Chromebooks, matey! These beauties be known for their simple and intuitive nature, thanks to the ChromeOS software. With just one glance, ye can see all the essential apps and get settled on the device in no time, even if ye be used to those traditional Windows 11 laptops. The scurvy dogs at Google be workin' hard to improve the user experience, and it seems they may have a new treat in store for us with the Canary Build of ChromeOS 118 - new 'glanceable' widgets!
Arrr! Android Central spotted a tweet from C2 Production that showcased a new addition to the Calendar widget. This addition be allowin' ye to interact with various lists within Google Tasks, the swashbucklin' task manager and to-do list software. The screenshots and videos from the tweet show a Google Task widget poppin' up on top of the Calendar widget, with the user's different task sections separated (school work, personal, and so on).
This new feature be quite handy indeed! Ye can switch between different lists and tick off tasks as ye complete 'em, all when the Google Task widget shows up. Aye, this be a game-changer for students and professionals grindin' through the day and clearin' their daily to-do list. Ye can quickly cross off tasks and swap between 'em as needed.
But alas, there be one unfortunate aspect, me hearties. As noted by C2 Production, ye can't add new tasks through the widget at this time. Instead, ye be redirected to the Google Tasks homepage to add a new task, which will then be reflected in the widget on yer desktop. It be a little finicky, matey, but we hope to get a smoother experience with this widget in the future.
However, let yer hopes not run wild just yet! This be the Canary build of ChromeOS, an experimental version for web developers. We may not even see this feature in any final builds, and it could be swiftly removed. So keep yer eyes peeled for more updates on this handy widget, me fellow pirates!
