Arr, as Hurricane Hilary be a'swirlin' off Mexico's Pacific coast, them MLB officials, in all their wisdom, be choosin' to clear the schedule o' them three games set to happen in California on Sunday. Aye, the winds be blowin', but the pirates o' the diamond, they be safe!
Ahoy there, me hearties! Listen up, ye landlubbers! There be some news from the Major League Baseball, and it's enough to make even the hardiest pirate shiver in their boots. Arrr!Ye see, there's a mighty storm brewin' on the horizon. They be callin' it Hurricane Hilary, and she be comin' in strong, me mateys. A Category 4 storm, no less! And ye know what that means – trouble for the good ol' ballgames that were supposed to take place in California this weekend.
The Arizona Diamondbacks had plans to finish their four-game series with the San Diego Padres, while the Tampa Bay Rays were ready to take on the Los Angeles Dodgers, and the Miami Marlins were set to face the Los Angeles Angels. But alas, the league had to make a change to the schedule to keep everyone safe from the storm's wrath.
So what be the solution, ye ask? Doubleheaders, me hearties! All three teams will be playin' two games on Saturday instead. It may be an inconvenience for some, but at least they be stayin' safe from Hurricane Hilary.
The managers of the teams be talkin' about it too. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts be grateful that they be takin' action ahead of time, while Angels manager Phil Nevin be findin' it all a bit nerve-wrackin'. And can ye believe it, me mateys? Some of these scallywags didn't even know that hurricanes be a thing in California! Rays pitcher Zach Eflin be prayin' for it to be nothin' more than a tropical storm when it hits the land.
And don't ye be forgettin' about the NFL, me hearties! They be havin' a couple of preseason games scheduled in California too. The Los Angeles Rams and the Oakland Raiders be goin' head to head, while the Los Angeles Chargers be welcomin' the New Orleans Saints. No word yet on whether those games be goin' ahead or not.
So there ye have it, me hearties. A storm be a-comin', and the ballgames be a-changin'. Stay safe out there, ye scallywags!
