2023-08-18

Arr, me hearties! The seasoned scurvy dog, Denzel Mims, missed a fair few practice days after his sorry leg got injured in a jolly practice session with them Detroit Lions.

In a humorous tone, we can talk about the misfortunes of the Detroit Lions and their acquisition of Denzel Mims, using the language of a 17th-century pirate. Arrr, mateys! The Detroit Lions be hopin' to get their ship back on course by tradin' for Denzel Mims this offseason. But alas, their hopes be dashed to Davy Jones' locker on Friday when they parted ways with the scallywag, labelin' him as waived/injured. Mims be sufferin' from an injured ankle during training camp, but just when he be startin' to recover, aye, he goes and injures his calf! ESPN be reportin' this unfortunate tale.

'Tis a sad tale for Mims, who was drafted by the New York Jets in the second round of 2020. Now, he be a free agent, left driftin' in the sea of uncertainty. The Jets' trade with the Lions be conditional on Mims makin' the roster, but since he failed to do so, the Lions be sayin' "no more booty for ye, New York!" They be keepin' their draft picks safe and sound.

But fear not, me hearties! The Lions be showin' some flexibility with this roster move. They be signin' a new matey, Jason Moore, to take Mims' place. Moore be a scurvy dog who went undrafted in 2019 but spent a few years with the Los Angeles Chargers. He may not be the treasure trove of talent that Mims be, but he caught six passes for 104 yards in his career with the Chargers, so he be showin' some promise.

Before his injury, Mims be showin' some real potential in training camp. But alas, injuries be takin' their toll on the Lions' wide receivers. Amon-Ra St. Brown, a Pro Bowler, be sufferin' from an injured ankle, and Jameson Williamson, a former Alabama standout, be sittin' out the rest of the preseason with a hamstring injury. The Lions be in dire straits, but they still be settin' sail against the Jacksonville Jaguars on August 19 for a preseason battle. We be hopin' they find their way to victory, arrr!
