Whilst the scurvy Yankees be teeterin' on the verge o' makin' a history they'd be too ashamed to boast, a scallywag from the rival Red Sox hath ventured to undertake somethin' worth a jolly celebration, ye sea dogs!
The New York Yankees, in their current state, are not doing well. They entered their series against the Boston Red Sox on a five-game losing streak and are now in last place in the American League East. The Red Sox dominated Saturday's game, with infielder Luis Urias stealing the spotlight. Urias became the first Red Sox player to hit grand slams in back-to-back games since 1940, a feat previously achieved by Jimmie Foxx. Urias joined the Red Sox this season after spending time with the Milwaukee Brewers. His second-inning grand slam on Saturday gave the Red Sox a 4-0 lead over their division rivals. In Foxx's time, he hit his grand slams in consecutive days while playing against the Detroit Tigers. Urias hit his first grand slam late in a game against the Nationals and followed it up with another bases-clearing home run in his first plate appearance on Saturday. Urias has provided a boost to the Red Sox since joining the team, with a .250 batting average, a home run, and five RBIs in nine games. Meanwhile, the Yankees' struggles continue, with Saturday's loss marking their seventh consecutive defeat. They are now three games below .500 and are at risk of finishing with a losing record for the first time in over 30 years. The Yankees' drop-off in performance may be attributed to Aaron Judge's toe injury, which has kept him out of the lineup for a significant amount of time. Judge recently returned, but the team's fortunes have not turned around. The Yankees and Red Sox will conclude their three-game series on Sunday afternoon.
