2023-08-20

Arr! The legend Miguel Cabrera o' the Detroit Tigers, in a fit o' jest, dared ta mock the scuffle o' the Cleveland Guardians' José Ramírez and Tim Anderson! He squared up with Ramirez on a fine Sunday, a merry spectacle indeed!

Detroit Tigers legend Miguel Cabrera, known for his home runs, is also a prankster who loves to make his teammates and others in the league laugh. During a game against the Cleveland Guardians, as his final MLB season approaches its end, Cabrera received a custom guitar as a gift. The guitar was brought to him by Guardians third baseman José Ramírez, who made headlines earlier this month for getting into a fight with Chicago White Sox shortstop Tim Anderson.
Cabrera decided to joke around and squared up with Ramírez before accepting his gift. Ramírez didn't find it amusing and shook his head, while his teammates laughed at Cabrera's antics. The Guardians' announcer even chimed in, telling Cabrera to leave Ramírez alone and jokingly warning him to watch out. Ramírez had already served his suspension for the fight with Anderson, during which he landed a big right hook to Anderson's jaw.
Anderson appealed his initial six-game suspension, which was reduced to five games, and is currently serving it. In addition to Ramírez, Guardians manager Terry Francona, White Sox manager Pedro Grifol, and third base coach Mike Sarbaugh also received one-game suspensions for their involvement in the benches-clearing brawl.
This is Cabrera's final road trip to Cleveland, and the Guardians presented him with the guitar as a farewell gift. Cabrera, with an illustrious 21-year career that included 16 seasons with the Tigers, has announced that he will be retiring after the 2023 season. He is considered a sure Hall of Famer, with numerous accolades, including two league MVPs, 12 All-Star appearances, and a Triple Crown season in 2012.
