Arr! Lonzo Ball be givin' Stephen A. Smith a good lashin' fer his shoddy injury report! "Avast, matey, who be yer sources, me hearty?"

Chicago Bulls point guard Lonzo Ball responded to an injury report about him that was discussed on ESPN's "First Take" by Stephen A. Smith. Ball, who missed the entire 2022-23 season due to a knee injury, will also be missing the 2023-24 season after having a cartilage transplant. Smith claimed that sources said it was even hard for Ball to get up from a sitting position, which Ball adamantly denied. In a video posted on social media, Ball performed pistol squats using only his left leg to prove that he was capable of movement. He called out Smith for his sources and expressed his frustration with the rumors.

Smith responded to Ball and said he would be happy to reach out to the actual source next time. Ball's injury has significantly impacted his career, as he signed a lucrative contract with the Bulls to be a key player in their starting five but has only been able to play in 35 games since signing. Before his injury, Ball was performing well, shooting career-high percentages and contributing in multiple statistical categories.

Ball's injury history includes a meniscus tear in January 2022, which required surgery and ultimately led to him missing the rest of that season. Unfortunately, he has not been able to return to the court since then. The Bulls were excited to acquire Ball due to his court vision, improved shooting, and agility. However, his injuries have prevented him from fully showcasing his skills.
