Avast ye scallywags! Google be scurrilously hoisting down the fine folio of live lyrics for YouTube Music, a treasure Spotify be already possessin' for ages! Arr, 'tis a race against time in this musical sea!
Google has announced that it's adding live lyrics to YouTube Music, a feature that Spotify has offered for years. It automatically scrolls lyrics as a song progresses, making it easier to understand and sing along. The feature has been in testing for months and is now being rolled out to users. To access live lyrics, users need to navigate to a song with attached lyrics and go to the Lyrics tab in the Now Playing screen. The updated version has larger text and highlights the line of lyrics currently being sung.
However, live lyrics for YouTube Music is only available on Android and iOS, and not every song can use the tool. In contrast, Spotify's live lyrics feature is available on all platforms, including smart displays.
Although the live lyrics feature is not yet perfect, it is a useful addition that shows Google's commitment to continuously enhancing its service. Google has been investing in other projects as well, such as the ability to identify a song by humming or recording a snippet into the voice search tool. This experimental feature is currently available to a small percentage of Android users on YouTube.
Google is also introducing a program that grants more protection to music industry professionals against AI tools that train on music. Additionally, there is a new Samples tab on YouTube Music that uses its own algorithm to help users discover new artists.
All these quality-of-life changes and enhancements demonstrate the growth and development of YouTube Music as a platform.
