2023-08-27

Arr! Miami Dolphins' scurvy dog, Daewood Davis, be whisked away on a cursed ship's plank, leavin' their clash with the Jacksonville Jaguars in dire straits. The game, like a plundered treasure, be suspended, leavin' us pirates yearnin' for more action on the high seas!

In a preseason game between the Miami Dolphins and Jacksonville Jaguars, wide receiver Daewood Davis suffered a scary injury. Davis was on offense when he took a hard hit from Jaguars defender Dequan Jackson, resulting in a penalty for unnecessary roughness. Davis remained motionless on the field for several minutes before trainers attended to him. He was immobilized, put on a stretcher, and taken out of the field on a cart. The head coaches of both teams, Mike McDaniel and Doug Pederson, decided to suspend the game with 8:32 remaining, as the Jaguars were leading 31-18.
The Dolphins later provided an update on Davis, stating that he was taken to the Baptist Medical Center Jacksonville for further evaluation. Fortunately, Davis was conscious and had movement in all extremities. Tua Tagovailoa, who has experienced serious head injuries in the past, expressed his concern for Davis and emphasized the unexpected risks associated with playing football. Tagovailoa believed it would have been difficult for the players to continue the game after witnessing Davis' injury, given his respected status as a teammate and player.
This was the second preseason game to be suspended due to an injury. In the previous week, a game between the New England Patriots and Green Bay Packers was called off after Isaiah Bolden, a Patriots cornerback, collided with a teammate. Bolden was taken to the hospital but was released the following day. The prevalence of such incidents highlights the risks involved in the sport.
