Arr, matey! 'Tis a strange tale indeed! Young Jimmy Garoppolo be dubbing the Niners' quarterback situation as queer. The crew drafted Trey Lance, but their plan be to let ol' Brock Purdy take the field instead. Aye, 'tis a puzzlin' choice, if ye ask me!

In 2021, the San Francisco 49ers made a trade to select quarterback Trey Lance. Despite his limited playing experience in college football, the team believed they could develop him into a franchise player. However, Lance only appeared in eight games in his first two seasons and dealt with injuries. Jimmy Garoppolo's time with the 49ers was expected to end after the 2021 season, but he returned as the starter when Lance got injured in Week 2 of the 2022 NFL season.

Seventh round draft pick Brock Purdy started games towards the end of the season and led the team to the NFC Championship. The decision to trade up and select Lance, along with the quarterback carousel, left Garoppolo feeling like he was in some "weird situations" during his time with the Niners. Garoppolo now plays for the Las Vegas Raiders, but his comments caught the attention of his former head coach, Kyle Shanahan.

Shanahan responded to Garoppolo's comments by saying he tries not to pay attention to outside comments and focuses on dealing with the people inside the team. Lance was recently traded to the Dallas Cowboys and expressed excitement about joining a new team for a fresh start. Garoppolo showed support for Lance, saying he's happy he gets another opportunity and that he's always pulling for him.

Sports Illustrated described the 49ers' quarterback situation as "messy," and Garoppolo agreed, saying it's a nice way to put it. Shanahan, however, brushed off the comments, stating that trading up to the third pick in the draft and it not working out is an unusual situation, but not weird. The 49ers and the Raiders are preparing for their upcoming season openers.
