Arrr! Me hearties be hearin' that the Alabama Crimson Tide be settin' sail with the young scallywag Jalen Milroe as their captain, leadin' the crew from under center. Middle Tennessee be no match for these fearsome ruffians! ESPN be the messenger of this grand news, mateys!

The Alabama Crimson Tide have found their starting quarterback for the season opener against Middle Tennessee. According to ESPN, sophomore Jalen Milroe will get the nod from head coach Nick Saban. The quarterback position has been a concern for Alabama as they entered the 2023 college football season, especially after the departure of Bryce Young, the 2021 Heisman Trophy winner.

Milroe had previously stepped in for an injured Young last season and started against Texas A&M. Now, he has the opportunity to prove himself as the right man for the job. However, there is no certainty about how long he will hold onto the starting role. Saban has made it clear that if one quarterback struggles, he is not afraid to give other QBs a chance.

In an August press conference, Saban said, "What if the guy doesn't play good? He's not entitled to keep playing." He emphasized the importance of consistent performance and winning the team over. It's not uncommon for Alabama to change quarterbacks during the season.

Milroe has been competing with other quarterbacks, including Tyler Simpson and Notre Dame transfer Tyler Buchner, for the starting position. Alabama's first significant test will come in Week 2 when they face the Texas Longhorns, who nearly upset them last season. Young led the Crimson Tide to a game-winning field goal in that game.
