Former NFL wide receiver Mike Williams, known for his time with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Buffalo Bills, is reportedly in the hospital following an accident at a construction site. Initial reports mistakenly stated that Williams had passed away, but he is currently fighting for his life and on life support. Williams' ex-partner, Tierney Lyle, visited him in the hospital and described him as mostly non-responsive, with limited movement.
According to a GoFundMe page set up by Williams' father, the accident occurred when a steel beam fell on his head, causing severe injuries to his brain and spinal cord. As a result, Williams is now paralyzed in his right arm and from the waist down. He never regained consciousness after the incident and was placed into a coma on Sunday.
Williams had a successful career in football, beginning at Syracuse University where he led the team in receiving yards as a freshman. Despite some disciplinary issues and suspensions throughout his college career, he was still drafted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2010. In his rookie season, he had an impressive performance, leading the team in receiving yards and touchdowns. He was later traded to the Buffalo Bills and had a brief stint with the Kansas City Chiefs.
In total, Williams amassed 223 receptions for 3,089 yards and 26 touchdowns in his professional career. However, his current situation is dire, and he remains in critical condition. Friends, family, and fans have rallied together to support Williams and his family during this difficult time.
