In a recent update, ExpressVPN has added advanced security features to its Windows app. This includes the addition of Threat Manager, a malware and ad-blocker tool that enhances digital security. While the feature was previously available on other platforms, such as iOS, MacOS, and Android, Windows users can now enjoy a tracker-free browsing experience.
Threat Manager prevents apps and websites from communicating with trackers or other malicious third parties without the user's knowledge. It adds an extra layer of privacy to the device by blocking malware, web trackers, and data sharing across all apps. The tool works similarly to ad-blockers by preventing devices from communicating with servers listed on a blocklist regularly updated by the Express team.
To benefit from this extra protection, users need to enable Threat Manager in the app's settings by turning on the "Block trackers and malicious sites" option. This feature is already available on other client apps and is also included in ExpressVPN's VPN-built router, ExpressVPN Aircove.
The Windows update also addressed a major bug that prevented the app from auto-updating to the latest version. With these improvements, ExpressVPN aims to provide users with a secure VPN product.
