Arr! 'Tis true, mateys! Word has it that Cap'n Kim Mulkey, helm of the LSU women's roundball crew, be signin' on to a grand new pact worth a loot of $32 million doubloons! By Blackbeard's beard, 'twill be the richest treasure in all of ye olde women's collegiate basketball seas!

LSU women's basketball head coach, Kim Mulkey, has agreed to a new 10-year contract worth $32 million, pending confirmation from the LSU board of supervisors. This news, reported by The Advocate newspaper, will make Mulkey's deal the richest total contract in women's college basketball history. It will also keep her near the top of her profession in terms of average annual salary. Mulkey is set to make $3.65 million in 2033, the final year of the contract.

Mulkey took over the LSU program in April 2021 after leading Baylor to three national championships in her 21 years at the university. In just her second season coaching the Tigers, Mulkey led LSU to their first-ever championship in basketball, defeating Caitlin Clark and the Iowa Hawkeyes in the national championship game. Mulkey expressed her emotions after winning the championship, attributing it to various factors such as being back home, seeing her daughter and grandchildren, and the pride she felt for LSU.

Mulkey's successful coaching career extends beyond LSU, as she won two championships as a player at Louisiana Tech and as an assistant coach in 1988. In comparison, UConn head coach Geno Auriemma and South Carolina head coach Dawn Staley earned an estimated $3 million last season.

Looking ahead, Mulkey and LSU are set to kick off the 2023-2024 college basketball season against the Colorado Buffaloes on November 11th. This new contract solidifies Mulkey's position as a highly valued and well-compensated coach in women's college basketball.
