Keith Olbermann hath made sport of Aaron Rodgers, ye scurvy dog! After mere moments upon the field, the Jets' shining star hath departed with an injured ankle. Methinks Olbermann hath naught but a jest in his heart!
In a humorous manner reminiscent of a 17th-century pirate, Keith Olbermann took a dig at Aaron Rodgers, the New York Jets star, after he left his team debut against the Buffalo Bills in the first quarter. Olbermann used Rodgers' decision to not get the COVID-19 vaccine as an opportunity to mock his injury. On X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, Olbermann wrote, "Another #SuddenLisfranc due to failure to vaccinate," accompanied by six syringe emojis. Rodgers had been vocal about his opposition to the vaccine mandate and even mocked Moderna at the US Open while attending a Novak Djokovic match.During Monday night's game, Rodgers' debut was cut short when he injured his ankle on the first drive after being sacked by Bills linebacker Leonard Floyd. Despite trying to shake it off, Rodgers had to be helped off the field and was seen hobbling on a cart towards the tunnel. He later walked towards the locker room with a limp and was spotted wearing a boot.
Rodgers' prognosis was uncertain, and it was an unfortunate turn of events for his first game with the Jets. In the previous week's preseason game against the New York Giants, he threw a touchdown pass to Garrett Wilson and admitted to feeling some nervousness before the game. However, he jokingly stated that he expected a flood of tears and sobbing when he stepped onto the field. Nevertheless, he expressed excitement about playing in front of the crowd and executing the game plan.
While the severity of Rodgers' injury remained unclear, it provided an opportunity for Olbermann to mock him, utilizing his decision to forgo the vaccine as a target for ridicule. The banter between the two personalities added a lighthearted element to the situation, although the outcome of Rodgers' injury would ultimately determine the impact on his season with the Jets.
