Kurt "CyberGuy" Knutsson doth elucidate on how ye canst sniff out an AirTag, me mateys, what be spyin' on ye every move. Simply deploy an app on yer Apple or Android contraption, and ye shall unveil the sneaky scoundrel's whereabouts. Arrr, tech be a treacherous sea, says I!

You may think that the Apple AirTag is only compatible with Apple devices, but that's not entirely true. If an AirTag is in Lost Mode or not connected to its owner's device, you can actually use and find it with your Android phone. Apple has released an app on the Google Play Store called Tracker Detect, which allows Android owners to scan for nearby AirTags and other Find My-compatible devices that might be tracking them without their knowledge.

The Tracker Detect app is free to download and doesn't require an Apple ID account. It is compatible with Android devices running Android 6.0 or later. Apple released this app in response to concerns that AirTags could be used to secretly track people, as they can be discreetly placed in bags, coats, or vehicles.

While Android users can't take full advantage of the AirTag features without Apple's Find My app, they still have some limited capabilities. The Tracker Detect app allows users to scan for trackers, and if they suspect someone is using an AirTag to track their location, they can use the app to check for it.

The Tracker Detect app only detects trackers compatible with Apple's Find My Network, such as AirTags. It won't detect other brands of trackers like Tile or Samsung. It also doesn't provide precise location guidance like the Find My app does on iPhones.

Google has also introduced a feature for Android phones called "Unknown tracker alerts," which automatically alerts users if there is an AirTag nearby that doesn't belong to them. This feature works on Android 6.0 and up without the need to download any additional apps.

If you're an Android user looking for a tracker similar to the AirTag, you can consider alternatives like the Samsung Galaxy SmartTag or the Tile Mate. These trackers use Bluetooth and have their own apps compatible with Android devices.

Overall, while the AirTag may not be fully accessible to Android users, the Tracker Detect app and other alternatives provide some options for detecting, finding, and disabling AirTags that are not connected to their owner's device.
