Avast ye scallywags! Dustin Johnson be blamin' LIV for scupperin' his chances at the Ryder Cup! Arrr!

2023-09-14

Avast, me hearties! Yonder be dire tidings! Dustin Johnson, a seasoned golfer, be sayin' he won't be joining the Ryder Cup this time, aye, and he be blamin' his jolly venture at LIV for it. Aye, that be a mighty reason indeed!

The 2023 Ryder Cup will be missing Dustin Johnson, who is taking a break from golf and has not been selected for the U.S. team. Johnson, along with other golfers, moved to LIV Golf, which he believes played a role in his exclusion from the team. Although he admits that he hasn't played well this year, he believes he played well enough to be on the team. Johnson expressed his desire to be a part of the team and thinks he can contribute to their success. He is a veteran of the Ryder Cup, having played in five and won two. However, this year he blames his participation in LIV for not being selected. Johnson had five top-10 finishes in LIV events, but it seems that didn't matter much. If he had stayed on the PGA Tour, there's a good chance he could have automatically qualified. But he only earned points in majors, where he didn't perform well. Despite finishing tied for 10th at the U.S. Open, he struggled at the other majors. Johnson currently ranks 40th in points among U.S. players, with the top six automatically qualifying and the captain picking six others. The Ryder Cup is set to begin on Sept. 29 near Rome, and the U.S. team is hoping to secure their first victory on European soil since 1993.
