Arrr, me hearties! Windows 11 be bringin' ye jolly good tidings! Ye can now snatch bits o' text with yer trusty Snippin' Tool and give yer piratey portraits a blurry backdrop with the Photos App. Avast, it be a swashbucklin' update indeed!

Windows 11 is set to receive significant updates to its Snipping Tool and Photos app, much to the excitement of users. The Snipping Tool will now allow users to copy text directly from screenshots, while the Photos app will feature a background blur option. These updates were made available to Windows Insider users, who are part of the Windows Insider Program and help test and improve the operating system.

The new text capture and recognition capability of the Snipping Tool, known as 'Text Actions', makes it easier to copy and share text from screen captures. Users can also manipulate text within the screenshot and use the 'Quick Redact' function to redact sensitive information. Additionally, the Snipping Tool will integrate with Windows 11's Phone Link feature, allowing users to access and edit recent photos from Android devices on their PC.

The Photos app update includes the Background Blur option, which instantly detects and blurs the background of a photo. It also introduces a content search capability for photos stored on OneDrive, allowing users to search by the content of the photo. The updated Photos app also enables users to search for photos based on their location, including those stored on iCloud for iPhone users.

These updates were detailed in blog posts by Microsoft on the Windows Insider Blog. However, it remains unclear what changes will be made to the video editing functions within the Photos app, as the previous version of the app faced controversy for removing the Video Editor feature. Testers will have the opportunity to try out these new features as previews become available.
