Docking next ta FSR 3, Methinks Fluid Motion Frames be makin' a grander splash, surely in the near future, matey!

In the world of gaming, the spotlight has been on the launch of FSR 3 by AMD. However, there is another feature called Fluid Motion Frame (AFMF) that aims to boost frame rates using frame generation technology. The key difference is that AFMF is a driver capability, which means it can be applied to games without developers having to incorporate support.
AFMF works by adding extra frames to increase the frames per second count, resulting in a smoother experience. Currently, AFMF is in beta and only available for AMD's current-gen graphics cards. It officially supports 12 games, including Starfield.
What sets FSR 3 apart from AFMF is that FSR 3 includes advanced frame generation along with upscaling capabilities. AFMF provides a simplified version of frame generation but with wider support. However, AFMF will not be as good as FSR 3 in terms of frame generation quality.
AFMF is exclusive to AMD Radeon GPUs and is currently only available for RDNA 3 graphics cards. It may eventually come to more GPUs in the future. While a dozen games are officially supported, AFMF can be enabled for any DX11 or DX12 game using the Adrenalin software.
AMD advises that AFMF can introduce additional latency and recommends combining it with AMD Radeon Anti-Lag/Anti-Lag+ for the optimal experience. It may not offer the best experience in fast-paced competitive games. To use AFMF, one must play in full-screen mode with no HDR and V-Sync disabled. FreeSync is also recommended for the best experience with frame rate generation technology.
