Adobe be shoutin' from the crow's nest that them scurvy dogs who be buyin' the mighty Chromebook Plus shall be granted a grand treasure - a lengthened free trial of the web-based Photoshop! Avast, ye landlubbers, 'tis a deal ye can't be passin' up!
Adobe has partnered with Google to offer a three-month free trial of Photoshop on the web and an Express Premium plan to buyers of the new Chromebook Plus devices. The web version of Photoshop is a more basic version of the desktop program, but it does include tools like the spot healing brush. However, it is missing some features that will be added in the future. The Generative Expand and Generative Fill tools, powered by Adobe Firefly, allow users to automatically expand or remove objects within an image.In addition to Photoshop, Adobe Express is an all-in-one platform where users can create social media posts and edit videos. The free plan includes the Firefly AI, which can generate content based on text prompts. Projects made in Photoshop can also be transferred to Express for further editing. The Premium version of Express offers additional tools like animation controls and access to a vast asset library.
After the three-month trial, users will need to pay a recurring subscription fee. Photoshop on the web costs $20.99 per month, while Adobe Express Premium is priced at $9.99 per month. Although it is disappointing that users are charged the same amount as the desktop version of Photoshop despite not having all the tools, this partnership allows Chromebook owners to finally access the software.
The Chromebook Plus series, which focuses heavily on artificial intelligence, integrates well with Adobe's software. The laptops can draft social media posts and create custom wallpapers using AI. The eight Chromebook Plus models will be available in the US on October 8 and in Canada and Europe on October 9.
