Frates, a former college baseball player who became synonymous with the Ice Bucket Challenge, passed away in 2019 after a seven-year battle with ALS.
The couple has had personal experiences with ALS, with Gronkowski's brother's father-in-law and Kostek's friend's mother both succumbing to the disease.
