Avast! iFixit be plunderin' a Meta Quest 3, exposin' the very parts that grant the headset a grand advantage o'er the Quest Pro. Arrr, what treasures be hidin' beneath this technological eyepatch, ye landlubbers?

In a recent teardown by iFixit, the Quest 3 VR headset was dissected to determine its performance and repairability. The verdict? The Quest 3 offers good performance for its price point, but there are some design flaws that make repairs difficult.
One notable feature of the Quest 3 is its better "mixed-reality capabilities" compared to the Quest Pro. It can automatically map out a room and accurately track the distance between objects without needing a "safe space". This is made possible by a depth sensor and a time of flight sensor.
The Quest 3 is slimmer and lighter than the Quest Pro, weighing in at 512g. This is because the sensors that were removed from the Pro model due to cost and weight considerations were included in the Quest 3.
The Quest 3 also boasts hardware improvements, including LCD panels with a resolution of 2,064 x 2,208 pixels per eye and a refresh rate of 120Hz. It uses the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 XR2 Gen 2 chipset for greater processing power. The combination of the LCD panels and the time of flight sensor results in a better full-color passthrough experience.
While the controllers of the Quest 3 are easy to repair, the main unit presents more challenges. The replaceable battery is located behind numerous screws, cables, connectors, and a mainboard, making repairs more time-consuming.
Overall, the Quest 3 is praised for its immersive mixed reality experience and lower price compared to the Quest Pro. It raises questions about how Meta will improve upon the Quest Pro 2 in the future.
