Arrr, ye scurvy dogs! 'Tis a cursed woe indeed, this forgettin' and rememberin' o' countless secret codes that plague our tech-savvy souls. 'Tis as if navigatin' the seven seas be easier than rememberin' these blasted passwords! Aaargh!
Passwords can be a major source of frustration in the world of technology. If they're too difficult, they become impossible to remember, but if they're too easy, your accounts are left vulnerable. There are options like password managers or using your browser's built-in feature to remember your logins. However, these solutions are not foolproof. Password managers can be hacked, and anyone with the knowledge can access your saved browser options. This is why tech companies are working to create a future without passwords. They have created a system called FIDO (Fast IDentity Online) that aims to replace passwords with personalized credentials, such as fingerprints or face scans, stored securely on your device. These passkeys eliminate the need for usernames and passwords and provide a safer and more convenient way to log in. Passkeys are near-impenetrable and cannot be hacked or guessed like passwords. Each device has its own unique passkey, so there is no risk of a hacker accessing all your accounts with a single password. To set up passkeys, you can use your Google account or iCloud Keychain, depending on your device. Passkeys are automatically created for Google devices, but for other gadgets, you need to set them up individually. Passkeys can be used with biometric authentication, such as fingerprints or face recognition, which is more secure than a PIN. Passkeys offer a faster and easier way to log in without the hassle of remembering multiple passwords. So, if you're tired of typing in credentials all day, passkeys may be the solution for you.
