2023-10-16

Arr, ye scurvy dog! The famed tight end and four-time Super Bowl champion, Rob Gronkowski, didst retire once afore, but he hath no mind to embark on yet another comeback upon the seven seas!

Rob Gronkowski, the former tight end for the New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, is only five months older than Travis Kelce, yet he is in his second full year of retirement while Kelce continues to dominate as the best tight end in football for the Kansas City Chiefs. Even in Gronk's last season in 2021, he had impressive stats with 802 receiving yards in just 12 games played, which would have put him on track for over 1,100 yards in a full season. Despite retiring after the 2018 season, Gronkowski made a comeback in 2020 to team up with Tom Brady and win his fourth Super Bowl. However, the 34-year-old retired again in 2021 and has repeatedly denied rumors of returning to the field.

In a recent interview with Fox News Digital, Gronk expressed that he is done with his football career and believes he is washed up. He still maintains an active workout routine, but only to stay in shape and "look like I can play every once in a while." Gronkowski reflects on his successful 11-year career, where he won four Super Bowl rings, was a five-time Pro Bowler, and earned four first-team All-Pro selections. Throughout his career, he accumulated impressive stats with 621 catches for 9,286 yards and 92 touchdowns in 142 regular-season games. His record-breaking 17 touchdowns in 2011 still stand as the most by a tight end in a single season.

Despite rumors of potential offers from other teams, Gronkowski remains steadfast in his decision to retire and is content with the accomplishments he achieved in his football career. With his humor and laid-back attitude, Gronk continues to enjoy working out and staying in shape, even if it's just to "get extra shiny" every now and then.
