Avast ye scallywags! A savvy Los Angeles Police detective hath unleashed a lawsuit upon the city, claimin' to have been subjected to a foul act of sexual assault and hazing whilst joinin' the department's football crew back in the year o' our Lord 2009. Arrr, the seas be gettin' choppy, mateys!

The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) is currently investigating allegations of hazing and sexual assault against its football team, the Centurions. These claims date back to 2009 when an unidentified LAPD detective, who was a rookie at the time, reported that he was subjected to these acts in the locker room after football practice. The detective filed a lawsuit against the city on October 16, stating that he had initially reported the allegations to the L.A. Police Commission's inspector earlier this year. LAPD Chief Michel Moore has emphasized that all employees are expected to uphold the same standards of conduct on and off-duty, and if the investigation reveals any truth to the allegations, those responsible will be held accountable.

The detective joined the Centurions football team in 2009 after being advised by a supervisor that it was a good avenue to excel on the force. According to the lawsuit, after a weekend practice, the rookies were allegedly called into the locker room, where they were subjected to hazing. The detective claimed that he faced at least 30 officers who ordered him to strip naked, hurled insults and liquids at him, and demanded to see his genitals. He also alleged that a teammate inserted an object, likely a water or beer bottle, into his backside. The officers further humiliated him by ordering him to climb into a trash bin filled with ice water while insulting his body.

Due to fear of retribution, the detective did not publicly speak out about the incident until recently. His attorney, Michael Morrison, stated that his client has been carrying guilt, shame, and humiliation on a daily basis since the alleged attack. The detective recently ran into one of the alleged suspects, who expressed shock that the detective had never spoken up about the incident. This encounter motivated the detective to take action.

The statute of limitations for criminal charges has expired, but the civil case alleges assault, negligence, and emotional distress causing post-traumatic stress syndrome. The detective left the team in 2009 after sustaining an injury that prevented him from playing. The LAPD is fully committed to investigating these allegations and ensuring accountability if they are found to be true.
