Avast ye, mateys! Drew Dixon, a landlubber who once sailed the treacherous waters o' music industry, hath set sail on a lawsuit against that scallywag L.A. Reid! She claims he did lay his hands upon her not once, but twice in the year 2001, and did purposely scuttle her career, arrr!
In a lawsuit filed by Drew Dixon, a former music executive, Antonio "L.A." Reid, a Grammy-winning music executive, has been accused of sexually assaulting her and sabotaging her career. Dixon worked for Reid when he was the CEO of Arista Records and alleges that he assaulted her twice in 2001. She also claims that after she rejected his advances, Reid cut her budget and sidelined artists. Dixon left Arista in 2002 and believes that her promising career in the music industry was cut short due to Reid's harassment. The lawsuit, filed in a New York federal court, seeks unspecified damages and highlights the physical assaults that Dixon endured as well as the damage caused to her career. Dixon sued under New York state's Adult Survivors Act, which allows victims of sexual abuse to sue within a one-year window even if the original statute of limitations has expired. The deadline for filing a lawsuit under this act is November 24.
This is not the first time Reid has faced allegations of sexual harassment. In 2017, a former female assistant accused him of harassment, leading to his resignation as the CEO of Epic Records. Reid has denied any wrongdoing but has apologized if any of his words were misinterpreted.
The Associated Press has not named Dixon as per their policy of not identifying individuals who report sexual assault unless they choose to come forward publicly. Attempts to reach Reid's attorney and publicist were unsuccessful.
