Avast ye scurvy dogs! 'Tis said that over 300 landlubber UCLA scholars have signed a parchment, demandin' the university condemn these campus ruckuses supportin' the likes o' Hamas. Should these knaves be stirrin' up violence, they be callin' for swift retribution! Arrr, the seas be rough indeed!

Over 300 faculty members at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) have signed a letter demanding that the institution denounce campus protests endorsing Hamas terrorists' attacks against Israel. The faculty members explained that while people may have different views on the situation between Israel and the Palestinians, Hamas' actions should be condemned irrespective of political views. They called on UCLA to make strong statements condemning the attacks and to prevent hate speeches and celebrations of the Hamas massacre from crossing the line into unlawful incitement. The faculty members expressed horror at pro-Palestinian rallies on campus that celebrated the massacres by Hamas and included explicit calls for violence.
Since Hamas launched its largest attack against Israel in decades, more than 11,000 people have been killed in Gaza and Israel, with thousands more wounded and others taken hostage, raped, tortured, and murdered by Hamas. Over 1,600 Jewish alumni have also demanded that Harvard crack down on antisemitism in a scathing letter. The UCLA faculty members argued that celebrations of Hamas terror attacks create an atmosphere of fear and called on the university to denounce them. They also urged the university to label Hamas as a terrorist organization and to hold student groups and members of the UCLA community accountable if they directly participate in incitement.
Pro-Palestinian student groups at various colleges and universities across the country have released statements and organized demonstrations supporting Hamas' attacks against Israel, even as many universities themselves condemn the acts of terrorism. Jewish people on campuses have faced threats and harassment since the attacks. In response, Columbia University suspended two student organizations, Students for Justice in Palestine and Jewish Voice for Peace, for repeatedly violating university policies and engaging in threatening rhetoric and intimidation.
