The FBI has added Haitian gang leader Vitel’Homme Innocent to their "Ten Most Wanted Fugitives" list for his alleged involvement in the kidnapping of 16 Americans and the killing of another. According to a federal indictment, Innocent is charged with conspiracy to commit hostage-taking and hostage-taking for his role in the armed kidnapping of Christian missionaries in Haiti in 2021. The hostages were held captive for 61 days before managing to escape. Innocent is said to lead the Kraze Barye gang, which worked alongside the 400 Mawozo gang during the kidnapping. He is also accused of another armed hostage-taking in Haiti, in which two Americans were involved and one was killed. Prosecutors state that Innocent ordered the kidnapping of Jean Franklin and Marie Odette Franklin, with Marie Odette being killed and Jean held hostage. Ransom was demanded for Jean's release, and he was eventually freed after his family made payments to the gang. The U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia stated that Innocent is charged with the death of an American citizen and multiple kidnappings of Americans in Haiti. The FBI is offering a $2,000,000 reward for information leading to his arrest and/or conviction. Innocent is believed to be in Haiti but is connected to other individuals throughout the Caribbean.
