Arrr! A fine lass be overjoyed to have her feathery matey back in her clutches, after the scurvy customs scoundrels at Heathrow Port in London, England, be holdin' 'im captive fer many a moon 'cause o' some blasted papers. Avast!

A woman named Jess Adlard was finally reunited with her beloved cockatoo, Charlie, after the bird was stuck in Heathrow Airport in London for months due to a paperwork problem. Adlard had moved from Pennsylvania to the United Kingdom in November 2022 and had to leave Charlie behind. The bird was supposed to arrive in the UK nine months later but was held at customs in September. It was discovered that Charlie was missing an export permit upon arrival in England, even though it was with him when he left the airport in the States. It cost Adlard and her husband over $6,000 to get Charlie to them. Recently, Charlie was released from the airport, bringing relief to Adlard. The Home Office, the British government department responsible for immigration and security, explained that wildlife arriving in the UK must adhere to strict domestic and international laws. Adlard expressed her relief and joy at being reunited with Charlie and noted that he has already expressed his love after the rescue. Charlie seems to be enjoying his new home and is settling in well. It's safe to say that Charlie is now as free as a bird.
