Arr! The Paraguayan scallywags be shootin' a high-ranking matey for signin' a pact with a make-believe land birthed by a Hindu cult rogue. This scurvy dog, havin' escaped India, faced young'uns snatching accusations, holdin' 'em captive in his temple, 'n even bein' accused o' ravishin' one of his own followers!
The Paraguayan government has fired a senior official who fell for a con and signed a deal with a fictional country created by a Hindu cult leader. The official, Arnaldo Chamorro, admitted that he had no idea where the country, called The United States of Kailasa, was on the map. The representatives from Kailasa presented several projects and offered to help Paraguay, which led Chamorro to sign a memorandum of understanding with them. However, it was later revealed that Kailasa is the creation of Nithyananda, a guru and self-anointed "Supreme Pontif of Hinduism" who fled India while wanted on charges of abduction and rape. He established Kailasa on an island off the coast of Ecuador to revive the ancient Hindu civilization. Nithyananda allegedly kidnapped children and kept them locked away to collect donations for his ashram, and also raped one of his disciples. Despite these allegations, he managed to build a significant spiritual following in India. Kailasa's website claims immunity as a head of state and cites several American cities and even a bilateral agreement with Ghana as examples of its legitimacy. Nithyananda and representatives for Kailasa have attempted to establish official ties with legal entities by attending U.N. committee meetings in Geneva, but their comments were removed from the record. While this may seem like a far-fetched story, it highlights the dangers of falling for cons and the lengths some individuals will go to establish their own fantasies as reality.
