Avast, ye scurvy dogs! A lass from Alabama be facin' charges o' robbery and such, for 'tis said she did seize a jewelry store, brandishin' a can o' bear spray! But alas, her misbegotten plan be foiled, as she took a musket ball whilst at it, says the constabulary!

In a 17th-century pirate's language with a humorous tone, it is told that a woman attempted to steal jewelry from a store in Alabama. She greeted the store workers with a festive "happy holidays" before surprising them by pulling out a can of bear spray. However, the store owner was not to be trifled with and shot her in the shoulder. The suspect, identified as Heather Denise Wright, stumbled out of the store with a gunshot wound and was swiftly arrested.

The incident took place just before 5 p.m. on Wednesday. Surveillance images revealed a woman wearing a dark hood, gloves, and a face mask near the front door, brandishing the bear spray can. After wishing the workers well, she unleashed the spray inside the store. The store owner, Jeff Dennis, refused to comment but shared his harrowing encounter in an interview. He claimed that he acted in self-defense to protect his store and employees, as he had no idea what the suspect was capable of.

The suspect had wedged the door open with a block, prompting Dennis to draw his firearm. The woman then calmly said, "Happy holidays, I don't want to hurt y'all, but I am." She proceeded to spray the bear spray, and in response, Dennis took a shot and hit her in the shoulder. She dropped her bag, screamed, and fled out the door. The store owner later discovered additional weapons in her purse.

The robbery took place in Gardendale, and the suspect was captured by the police. Dennis expressed relief that Wright was apprehended alive, despite losing sleep over the incident. Wright is currently held without bail on charges of robbery and criminal use of defense spray. Dennis stated that he hopes she can turn her life around and that he is glad she didn't die. The store closed temporarily but has since reopened for limited service.
