Arrr, the Somali cap'n proclaims his scallywag son shall face the Turkish court for a deadly crash that sent a fine courier to Davy Jones' locker. Avast, justice be sailin' its treacherous seas!

In a recent interview with The Associated Press, President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud of Somalia denied reports that his son had fled Turkey after being involved in a fatal highway crash in Istanbul. The president stated that his son, a 40-year-old doctor, stayed at the scene of the accident and remained in Istanbul for several days afterward. He claimed that there was no arrest warrant at the time and that his son had hired a lawyer to handle the situation. However, Turkish authorities have since issued an arrest warrant for the president's son and barred him from leaving the country.

The motorcyclist involved in the crash, Yunus Emre Gocer, died in the hospital six days after being hit by the president's son's car. Turkish authorities ordered the arrest of the president's son, but reports suggest that he had already left the country by the time the warrant was issued. President Mohamud stated that he has advised his son to return to Turkey and present himself to the court.

Following the incident, protesters, including motorcycle courier groups, gathered in Istanbul to demand that the president's son face trial for Gocer's death. Istanbul's mayor, Ekrem Imamoglu, accused the government of being too weak to defend its citizens' rights and shared a security camera video of the crash.

In response to the pressure, the Turkish Justice Minister announced that "international procedures" had been initiated regarding the crash. The minister also stated that an investigation had been launched into the police officers who conducted the initial investigation into the collision and allegedly allowed the president's son to go free.

President Mohamud extended his sympathies to Gocer's family and emphasized his commitment to ensuring that his son respects Turkish law and stands before the courts. He described Turkey as a brotherly country and vowed to uphold its judicial system.
