In the midst o' the ongoing skirmish betwixt Israel and Hamas, a few peculiar Palestinian voices be springin' forth, yearnin' fer a peaceful accord. Yet alas, their noble quest be thwarted by the tyrannical grasp o' Hamas, who be holdin' absolute rule o'er Gaza!

A Palestinian youth leader, Moumen Al-Natour, who opposes Hamas' rule in the Gaza Strip, has emerged amidst Israel's efforts to eradicate the jihadi terrorist movement. Al-Natour, 28, advocates for peace and the establishment of a Palestinian state that coexists with Israel in a two-state solution. He has been imprisoned by the Hamas regime twenty times for expressing his opinions and organizing protests. In 2019, Al-Natour was part of a protest against the deteriorating living conditions under Hamas. However, the protest was violently crushed by Hamas. Al-Natour has been tortured during his incarcerations, according to the Meezaan Organization for Human Rights.

Al-Natour explains that people in Gaza do not publicly criticize Hamas due to fear of severe consequences, especially during wartime. He also highlights the lack of access to social media and journalistic platforms for expressing dissenting views. Al-Natour believes that defeating Hamas ideologically will be challenging due to their extensive scholarly and literary resources. However, he emphasizes the importance of the youth and disenfranchised leading Gaza's future, without the need for external donors to govern them.

The Palestinian Authority (PA), known for its controversial "slay for pay" policy, has been discussed as a potential governing body in a post-Hamas Gaza Strip. Experts have claimed that the Biden administration is using taxpayer funds to support this system. Al-Natour and his group distribute aid to those in need with support from Palestinians abroad and moderate voices. UNRWA, the main aid agency in Gaza, has faced criticism for employing teachers who supported a massacre and for having its facilities used as weapons storage by Hamas.

Joseph Braude, president of the Center for Peace Communications, believes that the success of any post-Hamas administration will depend on attracting individuals like Al-Natour. He states that while support for accepting Israel is generally a minority view in Gaza, a substantial majority opposes Hamas' brand of resistance and believes in pragmatic cooperation for tangible benefits. UNRWA did not respond to a request for comment.
