"Avast ye! Cher be raisin' the Jolly Roger 'gainst them scurvy dogs at the Rock and Roll Hall o' Fame! She be claimin' they've denied her rightful place fer years! But now, she be sayin' she won't be takin' no induction, not now, not ever! Arrr!"

Cher, the 77-year-old singer, expressed her frustration with the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for not including her in their induction over the years. During an appearance on "The Kelly Clarkson Show," Cher mentioned that she had not been honored by the music museum. She brought up the snub while discussing her recent track "DJ Play a Christmas Song," which had topped the Billboard’s Dance/Electronic Digital Song Sales chart.
When Clarkson pointed out that Cher was the only musician to have number 1 songs over seven decades, Cher clarified that she and the Rolling Stones shared this accomplishment. She humorously said, "Two of us have. It took four of them to be one of me." She then expressed her shock and disappointment about not being in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Cher joked that she wouldn't be inducted even if they offered her a million dollars and expressed her firm stance on the matter. She added, "I changed music forever with 'Believe.'" Released in 1998, Cher's single "Believe" became a global hit and introduced Autotune to the mainstream. The song is credited with revolutionizing pop music's soundscape.
The 2023 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees included artists like Sheryl Crow, Willie Nelson, Missy Elliot, and George Michael. Dolly Parton, who was inducted in 2022, initially declined the nomination but later accepted it. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame defended their decision to include artists from various genres, emphasizing their roots in country and rhythm and blues.
Cher recently released her first-ever holiday album titled "Christmas," which marked her return to original music after a decade.
