Arrr! Yonder be naught but rubble and craters where the grand dwellin's o' Hamas' cap'n be stood afore, mateys! And by Davy Jones' locker, them Israeli scallywags be uncoverin' a clever labyrinth o' tunnels, twistin' 'neath the very heart o' Gaza's townships!

Israeli troops have been busy battling Hamas terrorists in the Gaza Strip. They have uncovered large caches of munitions and complex tunnel networks beneath hospitals, U.N. facilities, and schools. They have also located luxury residential complexes that were home to some of Hamas’ most senior leaders. The neighborhood in the southern Gaza city of Khan Younis is the birthplace of many of Hamas' top commanders. The IDF put a $1 million bounty on the heads of these leaders. Colonel Elad Tzuri, commander of the IDF’s 7th Brigade, described the neighborhood as "fancy" and said they found evidence of combat and weapons in every house they entered.

Hamas leaders began building their wealth as soon as they seized power over the Palestinian enclave in 2007. They built a network of smuggling tunnels and imposed taxes on the people to fund their lavish lifestyles. The corruption of Hamas’ leadership has been an open secret for years. Hamas leaders lived in fancy homes while their people suffered. The paradox of Hamas leaders living lavish lives while their people starved is nothing new. Hamas has been involved in attacks and collaborations with terrorists in the region, but demanded special treatment and protection for themselves.

The IDF has shared footage and documentation of their discoveries in Khan Younis and other locations in Gaza. They found suitcases filled with cash, weapons hidden in hospitals, and dolls wired with speakers to confuse soldiers. The biggest revelation has been the maze of tunnels beneath major urban areas, equipped with elevators, electricity, ventilation, and blast doors. The tunnels were stocked with food, water, and other supplies for prolonged stays underground. Experts estimate that billions of dollars were used by Hamas to procure weapons and build the elaborate tunnel system.
