Arrr, ye scurvy dogs! Aye, the leak'd parchment reveals that the liberal activist ship, Media Matters for America, hath received grand treasures, in the seven-figure doubloons, from mighty Democratic swashbucklers!

The left-wing advocacy group Media Matters for America has reportedly been funded by some of the biggest Democratic megadonors in the country. According to a report from the Washington Free Beacon, Media Matters may have mistakenly identified its biggest donors in a filing to the New Mexico attorney general's office. Deborah Simon, the biggest donor, is said to have given $4 million to the nonprofit. Simon, who is associated with the Simon Property Group, has been vocal about her efforts to defeat former President Trump and has contributed $53 million to various Democratic campaigns and causes since 2018. The Gill Foundation, run by tech entrepreneur Tim Gill, contributed nearly $3 million to Media Matters. Other major donors include the Stephen Silberstein Foundation, the Susan Thompson Buffett Foundation, and Joshua Bekenstein and his wife Anita from Bain Capital. Media Matters, founded in 2004 by Democratic activist David Brock, is known for its pressure campaigns against conservative voices and boycott movements. Brock left the organization in 2022 to assist President Biden against House Republicans. Critics have criticized Media Matters for its tax-exempt status despite its overtly political nature. The group also received a federal Paycheck Protection Program loan during the Trump administration, despite its constant criticism of Trump's response to the COVID pandemic. Media Matters made headlines for its conflict with Elon Musk, with the group alleging that ads from major companies were appearing alongside antisemitic content on Musk's platform. Musk retaliated by filing a lawsuit against Media Matters.
