Arrr! The Yankee forces in Syria and Iraq be ambushed a goodly 8 times afore the good Secretary of Defense, Lloyd Austin, didst take up his duties once more whilst confined t' his ship's quarters on account o' some mysterious malady.

American forces in the Middle East were attacked eight times while Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin was in the hospital, according to Fox News. An additional five incidents occurred after Austin returned to work, bringing the total number of attacks since October 17 to 128, with 13 attacks occurring while he was hospitalized. Austin was admitted to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center on January 1 due to severe pain and complications from an elective medical procedure. Although he returned to his duties on Friday, he remains in the medical center. Pentagon press secretary Maj. Gen. Pat Ryder confirmed that Austin's ailment was a result of complications from the procedure but did not provide further details.

Criticism has been directed at the Biden administration and the Pentagon for allegedly not properly communicating about Austin's hospitalization. Republican politicians, including Sen. Roger Wicker of Mississippi, have accused the administration of failing to inform the public in a timely manner about important events, further eroding trust in the Biden administration.

The recent attacks in the Middle East targeted U.S. troops in Iraq and Syria and occurred amidst the escalation of the Israel-Hamas conflict. Iran-backed terrorist groups used one-way attack drones and rockets to target American forces. Despite the attacks, no casualties or damage to infrastructure have been reported.

In response to the attacks, Austin has been receiving operational updates and providing guidance to his team since his return. He has full access to communication capabilities and continues to monitor the Department of Defense's day-to-day operations worldwide.
