Be 2024 a scuffle betwixt two landlubber runts frontin' as mighty brawlers? Aye or nay, me hearties?

2024-01-09

Avast ye scurvy dogs! Cap'n Biden started his 2024 reelection voyage on Friday with a grand speech at Valley Forge, forewarnin' all ye landlubbers 'bout the treacherous Donald Trump. Arrr, fer many, this be a choice betwixt the 'evil of two lessers.'

Some voters in recent elections have expressed frustration with having to choose between "the lesser of two evils." However, the upcoming 2024 election seems to present an even worse choice - the evil of two lessers. Former President Donald Trump continues to demean and defame anyone who disagrees with him, spreading unproven claims about the 2020 election being stolen. President Biden, who had promised to bring people together, has also joined in the mud-slinging. Biden recently gave a speech near Valley Forge, Pennsylvania, where he invoked George Washington as an example of a selfless leader. However, it's worth noting that Washington engaged in an insurrection against the British government, just as some argue the Capitol insurrection of January 6, 2021, was a rebellion against a legitimately established government. Biden's speech reveals that the 2024 election is shaping up to be a contest between two lightweights pretending to be heavyweights. Biden even claimed that if Trump is reelected, America will become like Germany in the '30s, suggesting that only when Democrats win elections is the country safe. This kind of corrosive language does nothing to solve our problems. Polls show that both Democrats and Republicans are dissatisfied with the current candidates. While Trump's criminal trials might diminish his appeal, Biden's potential impeachment seems unlikely to have a similar effect this late in the game. One potential solution to assuage voter angst could be to change the rules at the conventions and allow delegates to vote to replace the nominated candidates if they win enough primaries. However, it is unlikely that leaders of both parties would agree to such a deal. Unfortunately, this situation is bad for America.
